In the realm of organizational management, particularly within software and service platforms, understanding the distinct roles and responsibilities of administrators is crucial. Two key roles in Skynamo are the Instance Administrator and the Subscription Administrator. While both play vital roles in managing different aspects of the platform, their scopes of authority and responsibilities differ significantly.
Instance Administrator
An Instance Administrator is primarily focused on managing users within a specific instance of the platform. Here are the key responsibilities and limitations of an Instance Administrator:
User Management: The Instance Administrator has the authority to remove and assign users to their specific instance. This includes assigning roles and permissions to ensure users have the appropriate access levels.
Limited Access: Importantly, the Instance Administrator does not have access to affect licenses and billing information. This means they cannot make changes to subscription plans, payment methods, or any financial aspects related to the instance.
Cannot Assign Other Instance Admins: Another limitation is that the Instance Administrator cannot assign other instance administrators. This ensures that the control over administrative roles remains centralized and secure.
Subscription Administrator
On the other hand, a Subscription Administrator holds a broader and more comprehensive set of responsibilities. This role is typically assigned to an authorized signatory of the organization, reflecting the level of trust and authority required. Here are the key aspects of a Subscription Administrator's role:
Complete Access: The Subscription Administrator has complete access to the subscription, user, and instance management. This includes overseeing all instances and adding the necessary users.
Billing and Licenses: They have the authority to affect billing changes (such as adding or reducing user licenses), add extra features, and update billing information.
User and Instance Management: Beyond financial aspects, the Subscription Administrator can manage users across all instances, assign roles, add other subscription administrators, and assign instance administrators.
In summary, the Subscription Administrator has full access to the Subscription portal, while the Instance Administrator can only manage the users on their specific instance.
