Skynamo has data servers in various regions in the world. Sometimes our clients require that their data is hosted in a different region from where it was originally created. In these cases, we need to move the entire instance to a new database server, which means there will be a little bit of down time and new logins required. This document serves to navigate users going through this transfer to a successful transition.
How does this transfer affect me?
As an Android user, the transfer process itself will not affect you, except that your activities will not sync to your company's server. You can however continue to use your Skynamo app to do activities, such as logging visits, doing orders or filling in forms. Please note, activities that require connection to your company's server, such as self-assigning a customer to yourself, will not be available for the duration of the transfer. During this time, you will most probably be notified that your Skynamo app cannot connect to the server, as shown in the screenshot below:
Upon completion of the transfer, you will be able to synchronize the activities to the server, therefore, you can acknowledge this message, but do not have to worry about it.
Is there anything I should do before the transfer happens?
Please make sure that your device is fully in sync. This means that all the information on your device is uploaded onto your company's Skynamo Insights and that the information on your device is up to date with the information on Insights.
To do this, please see the following screenshots:
Click on the sync button in the top-right corner (two arrows). This will prompt the arrows in the button to start spinning. It may also prompt a pie-chart to appear that shows the syncing progress. Once the arrows stops spinning, your activities will be in sync.
Please make sure that the blue tick marks appear next to your activities on your timeline.
What will I have to do once the transfer is completed?
Step 1 - Change the Server URL on your Skynamo app
Without logging out of your Skynamo app, you can change the server that your app is connected to. To do this, click on the Preferences tab in the top-right hand corner. A list will open up from which you can choose "Preferences", "Order Form" or "About". Click on "Preferences".
Once you have clicked on "Preferences", click on Server URL. The URL that your company used before the transfer will open up. It will be something like https://trainingberno.za.skynamo.me/. Please remove the .za part and replace it with .uk as shown in the below screenshots.
Click on OK and wait for the server to load. If this does not work, please see the next two steps.
Step 1 - Log out of the Skynamo app
You will have to log out of your Skynamo app and sign into the app again with the new URL as your company name. To see how to log out of Skynamo on your Android device, please click here.
Step 2 - Log in onto the Skynamo app with the new URL as company name
If you have successfully logged out of the Skynamo app, you will be presented with the log in screen where you can insert your credentials - user name, password and company name - to log back into Skynamo. It is very important to enter your company's URL as the company name. It will be something like the following: https://trainingberno.uk.skynamo.me/. Please note, trainingberno will be substituted with your company's name.
