How to clear the App Cache on the Google Play store

Google Play™ Store - Clear App Cache

If your device runs slow, crashes or resets, or apps freeze when running them, clearing the cached data may help.

Note Notes:

  • Clearing the Google Play Store app cache and data can help eliminate error messages, connection failures, etc.
  • After completing these steps, it's necessary to accept the Google Play Store Terms of Service in order to re-enter the Play Store.
  • For further assistance, refer to the Google Play Help Center.

Android 8.0 and higher devices

  1. From your Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Google Play Store. (If you cannot see it, try searching for it in the search bar.)
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Tap Clear Cache.
  5. Tap OK.

 

 Android 6.0 and Android 7.0

  1. From your Home screen, navigate: Apps > Settings Apps.
    Note If unavailable, navigate: Apps > Settings > (Applications) Application manager.
    Note For Oreo OS, navigate: Apps icon > Settings Apps & Notifications > App info.
  2. Tap Google Play Store.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Tap Clear Cache.
  5. Tap OK.

 

Android 5.1 and lower devices

  1. From your Home screen, navigate: Apps > Settings.
  2. Tap one of the following:
    Note Option varies depending upon the device.
    • Apps
    • Applications
    • Application manager
    • App manager
  3. Tap Google Play Store.
  4. Tap Clear Cache.
  5. Tap OK.
